The School: Meeting Your Expectations

Our distinctive Master of Social Work program features educational experiences designed to prepare students to work as successful professionals in the social work field.

It takes more than a good heart and a desire to help. To make a positive, lasting impact, a social worker must possess knowledge, values, skills and competencies. At Pacific University, we provide our students with the tools they will need to become professional social workers. Together, we will work towards creating a better world.

Field Education

Our field experience is designed to promote the application of social work values and ethics, theory, and skills to practice. During both the foundation and concentration years of the program, students serve their practicums under the supervision of an MSW field instructor and the administration of the MSW field director. Over the entire course of the MSW program, students participate in a total of 920 practicum hours.

A Day in the Life

Prospective students often ask us, “What is a day in the life of a student really like? How many hours do they study? Do they bring lunch or eat in the dining hall?” So we went straight to the source and asked some of our current students about a typical day. A Day in the Life gives you a glimpse of what you can expect.
